Australian Shareholders Association Ltd.
The Australian Shareholders Association Ltd. represents over 5000 members (mostly individual shareholders, many self funded retirees) from the financial and corporate governance point of view. It is influential and its views widely sought by companies and commentators.

As not all shareholders have the same views or concerns on environmental and social issues, the ASA, by and large, does not get involved in these matters.

Its concerns include: relevant and timely disclosure of information, payment of dividends, provision of history for capital gains tax calculation, consistent and honest financial reporting, multiple directorships, director/executive remuneration, executive options, treatment of intangibles, private share placements, donations to political parties, sale of small share parcels, protection of small shareholders in takeovers.

The ASA is run by experienced retired professional volunteers in most states, employs a small staff in Sydney.
